13th June 2019 Thursday – Night & Day, Night & Day - Pt II

Hello Everybody!
Route: Glasgow to Aberfeldy
For the non-mathematicians out there:
Distance:  78.2 miles (Total 729.6)
Average speed: 12.3 mph
Calories: 1,543
Cycling time: 6h21m
Average cadence: 72 rpm
Climb: 4,708ft, Descent: 4,337ft
Heart (yes I have one): max 135 aver 113
Aver Temp: 24C, Max temp 12C
Temperament:  Scotland started to relax and let itself go a little bit crazy, Sun an all

Weather forecast stated heavy rain and strong headwinds. Oh dear. Obvs “FAKE NEWSSSSS” as reality was a gentle tailwind and sunny periods more often than not especially after halfway.

I left the Airbnb I was staying in but actually, it was just an Air as there was no bnb available. The host for this one was not very communicative when I asked her a few questions via the Airbnb app, also after leaving phone messages. In the end, she never arrived at the house and my review may make a small dent in her rating.

Another Sheep giving me the evils. It was in someone's garden but
I am not sure how or why it was there. I can still see those eyes.
especially when I look at this picture

I had two decent climbs to do today. One at 10 miles and the other at 50 miles. Both around the 3-4 miles in length so not that steep but nor were they easy peasy.

The first climb of the day. This is not the whole climb just in case and all
The scenery was superb – just as I’d remembered the top bit of Scotland. There was always a good number of places to stop, which I took advantage of. I was trying to go a bit steadier today as my legs were feeling it. I also thought I was travelling to Aviemore with the next day being my rest day. I mentioned this to a chap, who said hello to me, and he gave me a strange look as Aviemore was 145 miles away. I eventually found Ruth’s mistake by doing a google map route. Oh dear but let’s not all blame Ruth for yet again, again a big mistake. However, saying that, nor should we let her off the hook, as fisherpeople say [EDITOR: Al is so PC]. I suggest some suitable emails are sent to her, me in blind copy please, stating how much her mistakes are costing someone very special to her – that’s me BTW. Thanks.

The further north I went the better the scenery and towns and villages were. My main last stop was in Killin with the Waterfall an all (see pics).

At a very nice Killin café/pub I stopped to chat to a couple going to JOG and gave them my B&B details as they were looking for somewhere to stay. Never saw them again. I wonder why? Answers on the edge (Shorter) of a very thin postcard, please. To make us feel better, I ordered a latte which came with a free double scoop of lemon and lime ice cream. It had real bits of lemon or maybe lime and it was VERY NOOOOOICE INDEED!

I arrived at my B&B in Aberfeldy in good time and Fred the owner greeted me very warmly. He was, and still is, German and he had a lovely accent, part times Scottish and then soft German. His B&B was excellent, with Art Deco architecture and the longest bath I have ever been in. Obvs apart from a swimming pool, with the main difference between my bath and a swimming pool is that I did not pee in my bath.

When to the Three Lemons restaurant as suggested by Fred. The name of the restaurant reminded me of my three best friend acquaintances, namely Ken, Ian and Simon (or a short KISS as they are sometimes known).

OK I’m getting bored now and I imagine no one is reading this far so goodbyeeee, goodbyeeee.

PS The 3 A’s had a nice day cycling apart from any time they saw a large river and/or a loch they would swim instead. Most of the time upstream, as is their wont.

Franklin came with me for my evening meal and seemed to enjoy the experience but it’s often hard to tell as he always seemed so happy.
